Steeldrum Carnival festivities
The Steeldrum Carnival festivities start well before the official festival date. There are so many events not to be missed, such as the Carnival 2023 launch event on 5 November 2022, the Pan National Final on 7 December 2022, and the Junior Group Parade and Panorama National Final - Large Groups on 18 February.
The main celebration begins on Monday 20 February 2023, with the famous OPEN DAY, the first day of the festivities. The next two days are filled with music, dancing, costumes and celebrations on the streets of Carnival City. Steeldrum bands come from all over the island to play their most popular tunes, while dancers wear bright, colourful costumes, dancing through the streets and squares of the city.
The costume parade is a highlight of the event, with dance groups and costumed troupes performing in the streets, just like carnivals in Brazil. Spectators are invited to join in the dancing and celebrating, creating a lively party atmosphere.
